Welcome to Western Bays Sea Scouts!

We are based in Lynfield and are an active Group that welcomes youth aged 6 to 18 and beyond.

Scouting provides youth with adventure and challenge. It encourages teamwork, and develops the leaders of tomorrow by encouraging self-reliance and the setting and achieving of goals.

Like all Scouts, we go on camps and tramps, learn pioneering and First Aid amongst other things. As Sea Scouts, we add in watercraft activities such as sailing, canoeing and rowing. We learn the rules of the waterways and how to enjoy them safely.

Scouting is divided into Sections, enabling activities to be tailored to different age groups. Our Group has a Kea Club, a Cub Pack, a Scout Troop and a Venturer Unit — and we welcome new Leaders too!

Youth members must purchase and wear a uniform shirt which is available from Scouts Direct. We charge fees to cover costs but keep them as low as we can in order to provide good value and keep Scouting accessible. Still curious? Watch this Ted Talk about Scouting.

The sport in Scouting is to find the good in every young person and develop it.
